If you made the unfortunate choice of making such a character creation, you have two characters that play exactly the same. Knight Guardian and a Consular Guardian is the voice actor and initial story. **Jedi and Sith can pick the opposite alignment style if the legacy has light V or Dark V on a character. discipline ability trees (roles, IE Tank/burst dps/DoT dps)Ĭombat Styles may be selected by any similar Origin Story (Jedi origins pick from the 4 jedi styles, tech origins pick from the 8 tech styles, sith origins pick from the 4 sith styles. Sage/Guardian/Shadow/Sentinel are now "Combat Styles" Your 5 initial companions (linked to the story naturally) your personal starship (no combat difference, just aesthetics) There are NO associated skills with Origin Story Knight and Consular are now "Origin Stories" Mechanically, in the skills panel, you'd have one tab for "Sage" with the Sage unique abilities and discipline unlocks, and there would be a much smaller "Consular" tab that held a remnant of the base class skills common to both Sage and Shadowīase Classes locked to two specific Adv classes are a thing of the past. Still, if you chose Guardian/Sentinel, you would play the Knight Story, and vice versa Years later, the base classes were eliminated as starting choices, and you immediately chose Advanced classes at character creation. Shadow granted stealth, tanks skills, and double bladed Saber , sage granted healing and heavier ranged attacks, Guardian granted the tanky defensive skills Sentinel granted the dual Saber skills and camo, You followed the Jedi Knight storyĬonsular had force powers and like maybe 2 lightsaber skills ( TK throw, Project, Etc.) You followed the Jedi Consular Story Knight had Saber combat skills (leap, sweep, Master strike, etc.). Of course I'm talking actually Heavy Armor and not Cartel Market stuff anyone can wear.At launch, Knight and Consular were "Base Classes" from which you could later pick 2 thematic advanced classes (Sentinel/Guardian for Knight, Shadow/Sage for Consular) In PvP, you have both a Taunt and an AoE Taunt that lowers enemies' damage to you and others, and Guardian Leap adds an extra leap/escape for you as well.Ĥ) Heavy Armor just looks better: Armor made for Guardian just look far better then some of the Sentinel gear out there. Endure (1 min CD 30% more HP for 10 sec if Vigilance also 15% Defense chance for the duration), Saber Reflect (45 sec CD, 3 secs of reflecting back to the caster all non-AOE ranged attacks 5 secs when spec'ed Tank), and Focused Defense (2 min CD Only can use if below 70% HP 10 stacks that heal you for X, lasts 10 secs basically God mode for 10 secs). Guardians also have the overall better set of defensive CDs for the Jedi Knight class. Watchmen Sents, however, take a big lead and keep it.ģ) Heavy Armor/Better Defensive Abilities: Like Troopers, Guardian use Heavy Armor, which leads to slight better base damage reduction. Vigilance also is quite powerful, and in same gear, can out-DPS all but the most skilled Combat players. Vigilance is very predictable with a very set rotation and last few patches really took RNG aspect out of it. Only con to this is having to build two sets of gear, but still not the worst thingĢ) Guardian DPS specs are very easy to play: Compared to the Sentinel's Combat spec, Vigilance is like night and day. Always nice to be able to change it up when you want to. Guardian can spec as a Tank, and they make for very good Tanks at that. Here's a list of the perks to Guardians (from my point of view):ġ) Being able to Tank: While Sentinel DPS is about as best as it gets (Vanguards and Gunslingers would like to disagree), some people will get bored the old "Hack and Slash". Having both a Guardian and Sentinel, plus an added Juggernaut, I rather prefer the Guardian quite more.
